Tsodilo Resources embarked on a drilling program at its wholly-owned VK16 kimberlite project in Botswana, located in the Orapa region (Orapa).
In a statement, the company said that the purpose of the drilling program is a pilot well in areas that have been identified earlier in the large diameter drilling phase.
The diameter of the holes in the new program will be 24 inches, and is planned to drill 14 wells to produce about 2,000 tonnes of kimberlite.
"In order to link directly to the discovery of diamonds with the geological model and maximize the intersection of large diameter wells, it is necessary to explore all areas of drilling large diameter pilot hole" - the company said.
"The total depth of wells in kimberlite for this program is 3,000 meters, and it is expected that drilling pilot wells will take between 6 to 7 weeks," - said the company.
Diamondiferous kimberlite VK16 has a size of about 6 surface hectares, and has been shown to contain rare and valuable diamonds are type IIa.

The Zimbabwe authorities threatened to re-establish a 15 percent tax on the export of platinum ore if the mining companies give up their previous promises to build plants and factories to restore the country's weakened economy.
Minister of Finance Patrick Chinamasa (Patrick Chinamasa) noted at a mining conference in Harare that the government would like mining companies to increase the value added of platinum.
In January, Zimbabwe's authorities imposed a 15 percent tax on exports of platinum ore to persuade extractive companies to process platinum at local enterprises. Export of platinum accounts for about 60% of Zimbabwe's mineral exports.
Meanwhile, in June the tax was abolished.
Representatives of industry argue,
That the current platinum mining in Zimbabwe is unlikely to cover the creation of a platinum purification plant, the cost of investment in which can reach about $ 2 billion. Currently, all three platinum companies in the country - Anglo American Platinum, Impala and Aquarius - send platinum ore from Zimbabwe for processing in South Africa.
