Fourteenth Annual Conference "Botswana Resource Sector" was opened in the country's capital, Gaborone.
The two-day event attracted hundreds of industry leaders, despite the cold weather, set in Botswana.
Organizers of the event said that the agenda of this year expanded to include infrastructure issues, which focus on the problems of energy, water, environment and transport.
Participants will also discuss issues relating to investment and financing projects.
In addition to keynote speeches, delivered by some speakers at the conference for the first time will be panel discussions with the participation of players in the resource market and other industry professionals.
Botswana is the leading producer by value and volume of extraction of diamonds. She recently lost its leadership Russia, as Debswana company, which is half-owned by De Beers, has reduced production as a result of problems faced by the diamond industry.

Lucara Diamond has extracted two more "exceptional" white stones at the fully owned Karowe mine in Botswana.
Diamonds weighing 813 carats and 374 carats were produced using X-ray scanning scanning equipment, a short statement via e-mail to Rough & Polished said.
Lucara reported that the weight of the stones, however, may change after cleaning.
"I really do not find the words. It was an amazing week for Lucara, marked by the discovery of the second largest diamond in the history of diamond mining, and the discovery of the sixth-largest diamond jewelry quality ever produced, "said William Lamb, CEO of the company. "We were really lucky with this amazing asset."
Earlier this week Lucara reported the discovery of a 1 111-carat diamond of type IIa in the Karova mine.
The company also recently reported that it has extracted stones weighing 348 and 255 carats.
According to Lucara, she earned $ 30 million during her second tender this year on the sale of "exceptional" stones.
