Investigation of illegal diamond mining in Marange district (Marange) in Zimbabwe should be "carried out and the perpetrators brought to justice," said Minister of the Government.
The minister said Sevior Kasukuwere (Saviour Kasukuwere) in an interview with local edition of The Herald, Harare, the official investigation supports the Minister of Mining Chidakvy Walter (Walter Chidhakwa) for alleged illegal mining of diamonds in order to "finally deal with this issue."
Kasukuwere also said that the government allowed the diamond companies, acting in Marange, profiting from the illegal diamond mining, while the locals were forced to survive in conditions of extreme poverty.
"When (Marange) diamond was found, we all thought that they will improve the lives of people in this area now, we can only assume that we could do with these diamonds." - continues Kasukuwere.
"Why do people in Marange should remain poor when some citizens transferred their wealth to foreign countries, we have brought the residents Marange Now the government through the Ministry of Mines supports an investigation into the theft of the profits from diamond mining in Chiadzwa region (Chiadzwa)?.", - he added .
Recently Chidzhey Lord David (David Chidgey) reported in the British House of Lords, that the billions of dollars from the sale of Zimbabwean diamonds are stored on different personal accounts in London.
In Harare, they have already said they will check into the matter.
