De Beers has decided to get rid of the 50-percent stake in the only coal mine in Botswana in favor of the government, as Anglo American, the owner of the diamond company intends to upgrade its portfolio of upstream assets.
De Beers owns part of the shares of coal mine Morupule (Morupule) through the Debswana company, a joint venture with the Botswana government.
